So there I was minding my own business on Legian beach on my first full day in Bali. Anyway I get the usual people pestering me asking whether I want massages etc. etc. However, one of the women offered to cut one of my toe nails for free. I was about to wave her away when the next thing I know she's got her clippers out and is attacking my big toe nail. Before I knew it she'd cut all the nails on my right foot, cleaned under them and put some kind of moisturiser on them. I had been protesting that I had no money on me (which was true), but she was having none of it. She said that it was so quiet and if I liked what she'd done then I would come back and she could finish the job and then I could pay her.
Anyway I'm not really the pedicure type, so I haven't been back. I wasn't totally heartless as I did manage to find about IDR20,000 to 'pay' her.
